Tips to combat stress during pregnancy

Pregnancy is the most beautiful period in a woman’s life. During this period life is full of joy and hope, welcoming a new life-within… But apart from these excitements, there is also stress and strain associated with it, be it physical or more importantly mental state of the to-be mother, like emotional swings, which occurs due to changes in harmonal levels..

The mental state means pre-natal or post-partum depression that may arise at any point of time in expectant mothers. These are usually ignored by the expectant mothers and the people around , which may cause ill-effects in the future..

Below are some tips to combat stress during this period:-

1] Walking and exercises – Find a suitable time and walk… Walk is safe and easy way for good health.. Exercises includes simple stretching , but needs to be done under expert guidance or doctors’ advice.

2] Drinking more water and healthy diet – Though pregnancy deals with lot of different types of cravings for food, sometimes healthy diet might not be possible due to change in taste buds.. But eating fruits and vegetables aids in good health and digestion.

3] Taking small naps – Whenever possible taking small naps help in relaxation of mind and de-stresses body which is changing due to a new life growing within.

4] Yoga and meditation – Meditation, a part of yoga, provides achievement of harmonious balance between the body and mind and lessens tension.

5] Share your problems and feelings-  If you find a friend or a family member whom you feel like sharing your health related problems you can always go ahead, who could help you out.

6] Choosing a hobby – Be it knitting, crocheting, doing embroidery, cooking different types of recipes, craft-work, painting you can also involve in hobby activities  or spending time doing things that make you happy. These keep the expectant mothers to remain calm and tension-free..
